A backsplash is where countertop and wall meet, so it should complement the stone rather than compete with it.
Start with the countertop
If your slab has bold veining or movement, a calmer tile — subway, zellige or a solid large format — lets the stone lead. With a quieter quartz, patterned or mosaic tile can add character.
Finish and scale
Glossy tile reflects light and brightens a kitchen; matte and honed finishes feel softer. Larger tiles mean fewer grout lines and a cleaner look.
Don’t forget grout
Grout color changes everything. Matching grout creates a seamless field, while contrast highlights the tile pattern. We help clients choose grout in the showroom with the countertop sample in hand.
